Doddy's got a full run down on the information behind the updated M9100 edition of Shimano's famous XTR drivetrain. Shimano have concentrated on the 'no compromise' aspect of this transmission, delivering a product which can be tailored to suit a riders needs without cutting corners or falling short of expectations.
Shimano XTR has long been the groupset Mountain Bikers lust after; now, in it's latest iteration, it's finally available as a 12 speed drivetrain. After 13 iterations over 27 years it's fair to say that it's changed quite a lot since the first XTR groupset from 1992!
Being a #ShimanoRider, I was lucky enough to get my hands on both of Shimano's brand new groupsets, the Deore XT and SLX to unbox and talk through the tech specs with you. How incredible does the new range of Shimano offering look? All the D.N.A.
 

2. Detailed Breakdown by parts

Rear Derailleur   Shimano’s new 12speed XT & SLX has received the total make-up treatment from their Big Brother’s the M9100 XTR. Pulley wheels are now up to 13T with the XT’s rolling on ball bearings. Both the XT and SLX will come with integrated clutches allowing for reduced chain slap.

Shifter   The M8100 Shifter features new I-SPEC EV system. With this, riders now have greater range of adjustability. The XT M8100 Shifter offers multi-shift for both directions by allowing for a shift in 2 gears downwards where else the SLX offers just 1. Shimano has given the XT rubberised thumb pads for increased grip while shifting.

Equipped with Shimano’s Patented HYPERGLIDE+ technology, promises better shifting performance both up the ramps and down as well. This All-New Cassette requires the use of Shimano MICRO SPLINE technology. The XT consists of 2 Aluminium Sprockets (Black) and 10 Steel Sprockets fitted onto an Aluminium Spider while SLX will follow suit with 1 Aluminium instead of 2!
