We took the machine which led the Merida Bahrain Team to clinch 53 podium wins in their inaugural year out for a spin.
The Merida Bahrain Team was founded in 2017. Supporting every great cycling team is a range of great equipment. These machines eventually trickle down into the market, and as such, the merger between Bahrain and Merida has brought all of us a great selection of Merida-Bahrain Team frames.
The team at Merida is known to push innovation, surpassing the latest bicycle aerodynamics trends and ergonomics. A ride out with the Merida Reacto Bahrain Team 2018 frame confirms that they are not slowing down anytime soon.
The Reacto is Merida’s aerodynamically fine-tuned road bike, taking cues from time-trial bikes and built into a versatile road bike. Cables running through the downtube will check off any speedster’s first world problems, but with a second look, you'd be wondering if your favourite mechanic forgot to mount rear brakes. They wouldn’t forget something like that (I hope).
Fret not, the rear brakes seat right under the seat tube, behind an extended bottom bracket used to shield wind. A slimmer seat tube and seat post is also featured on the super bike. Every detail of this beast is engineered for maximum aerodynamic ability.
An aerodynamic setup is usually accompanied by a stiffer ride, and demands for a highly seasoned rider to appreciate it on long rides. However, S-Flex technology on the seat post improves comfort and delivers a pleasant riding experience for you.
Overall, we are very impressed with the thought put into the riding experience. The setup climbs extremely well, and the Vision Metron 6D handlebar ensures confident handling on flats and descents. Just watch out for the crosswinds, and we can’t wait for what the Merida-Bahrain powerhouse will bring us next.
